What an exciting start to 2017! From New York to Florida, we have travelled more than 5,000 miles this month to visit industry friends in the Big Apple and begin planning some spectacular destination events in Paradise! We are proposing a toast to new adventures and what is bound to be one heck of a year. Our motto for 2017 is to “Choose Joy” and celebrate the little victories. Life doesn’t have to always be about the big picture or the highlight reel, sometimes it’s the space in between that is truly spectacular and allows us to grow and achieve our dreams. So cheers to 2017…we are ready for you!
The end of 2016 is here and we are taking a moment to reflect on all of the beautiful moments gifted to us the past 12 months. (We couldn’t fit them all in here but we did choose a handful of our favorites!). We kicked off the year with our chief snuggle officer and then crafted one of a kind Valentines Day gifts at Bloom Floral Design’s new space – Studio 704 Event Design House in Charlevoix! Lish and Cammie from Epicure Catering hopped on a plane to Key West to partake in the ultimate Key Lime Pie Tasting Challenge. Then we celebrated the ultimate pinch-me press moment, being featured on Vogue’s Ultimate Wedding Planner Master List!
ADIM launched a blog (thank you for keeping up with us here on Pipe & Drape!) and then had the opportunity to attend two great industry events: the RT Lodge Fam trip in Tennessee and Engage16! at the Breakers.
Many days in 2016 were spent with cardboard boxes and packing tape. ADIM, Lish and Tana each moved into new homes… plus we moved all of our event inventory into a new storage space!
Before we knew it event season had arrived! It is the greatest honor and joy to celebrate the most special days and beautiful beginnings with our incredible clients. We kicked off the season by celebrating a special four year old at his superhero racecar birthday celebration, then our team (and Ohmee!) hit the road and arrived at Reeds Lake for a chic boho wedding on the water. The following weekend, we returned back to Traverse City to toast a gorgeous couple at their tented celebration on Old Mission Peninsula. (The sunset that evening was spectacular and reminded us how truly special summers in Northern Michigan will always be!). We lobster boiled and set sail on the Straits of Mackinac and even squeezed in a team photo shoot with Tec Petaja! In Suttons Bay, our bride and groom tied the knot amongst the most beautiful gardens and danced the night away under the stars. We then headed to Glen Arbor as two special people with the most kind and loving souls celebrated their marriage with their nearest and dearest.
Our last wedding of the season was a special one as it was in our own ADIM Family…Lish’s brother, Andrew, and sister in law, Amy, were married at Casa de Caldecott! It was an unforgettable day filled with so much love, light and amazing dance moves (Lish and Andrew planned the most epic brother sister dance ever!)
After 8 weeks and 6 events, we wrapped up event season with an engagement party for a wonderful couple and their lovely families in Grand Rapids. We closed out the rest of the year working with our fellow magic making, event industry friends! Lish had the opportunity to work with Anna Lucia Events on a party unlike any Naples, Florida has ever seen! Then we headed to the Event on Main to support our Little Victors, the patients at the University of Michigan C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital. The last few weeks our team has been celebrating the holidays with our friends and family and getting geared up 2017!
Thank you 2016 for another fabulous year…we can’t wait to see what 2017 has in store! Wishing you and yours a happy and healthy New Year! Cheers to you!
Each year Pantone selects a Color of the Year to serve as a symbolic snapshot of our global culture and to express a mood and attitude. The color chosen for 2017 is Greenery. This fresh yellow-green shade is symbolic of new beginnings (fitting as we move into the new year!). Lauren Eiseman, Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute states, “Greenery symbolizes the reconnection we seek with nature, one another and a larger purpose.” We love hues inspired by nature and are quite fond of this happy green hue that evokes the beautiful lush foliage we see outdoors in Northern Michigan. Greenery will also pair nicely with neutrals, brights, pastels and even metallics. Below, we have rounded up some of our favorite ADIM wedding moments that incorporate Greenery into the design or color scheme! We hope you will be inspired to use the shade in your own celebration this coming year!

Last November we had the opportunity to plan a 60th birthday celebration for a very special man and his lovely family! This event was truly an honor to plan and an occasion we will remember for years to come. With help from Event Theory, we built a custom tent at the family’s residence in Michigan. The space was draped in a rich chocolate fabric to create a warm, inviting atmosphere. At the far side of the tent, we built a grand stage to showcase the talented artists who would perform later that evening. As guests arrived for the birthday celebration, they were immediately welcomed into the cocktail space. After greeting the guests of honor (the birthday boy and his family!) and enjoying a “Grandhattan” signature cocktail – guests were welcomed into the tent for a performance by Second City Comedy Improv Troupe. The space was filled with smiles and laughter as the comedians performed one of a kind skits centered on the birthday boy!
While guests were enjoying dinner after the performance by Second City, we were busy flipping the tent to prepare for the musical entertainment – Jimmy Vali! We set up lounge seating around the sunken dance floor and added patterned linens to the cocktail tables along with floral details and votives with cut out patterns that looked lovely with candlelight peeking through. The lighting design of the stage was really the star of the show! It was the perfect backdrop for the entertainment, who performed a killer set while guests danced the night away.
We loved the illuminated starburst backdrop and the visual effect it gave to the room as well as the band. Here’s a little “Behind the Scenes” insight into the creation of this custom piece:

Travis & Wei had a beautiful wedding weekend here in Leland, Michigan. Guests travelled from near and far to join in on the celebration for this special couple. We are delighted that The Knot Michigan chose to feature their special day in the Spring/Summer 2017 issue! It was a memorable day filled with love, tradition and family heritage.
Many thanks again to The Knot for the gorgeous feature! To see more from Travis & Wei’s wedding, please visit the “East Meets West” Gallery.
